Papaya Sugar Candy | Making sugar candy from raw papaya.

                                            


 Papayas grow in tropical climates and are also known as papaws or pawpaws. Their sweet taste, vibrant color, and the wide variety of health benefits they provide make them a popular fruit. The papaya, a previously exotic and rare fruit, is now available at most times of the year. The nutrients found in papaya are thought to have a range of health benefits. They may help protect against several health conditions.

The possible health benefits of consuming papaya include a reduced risk of heart disease, diabetes, cancer, aiding in digestion, improving blood glucose control in people with diabetes, lowering blood pressure, and improving wound healing.

    
                                             

We are using green papaya for making sweet sugar candy. There is a little process behind the sugar candy making, but the end result will never disappoint you. 


Ingredients:


  • Green Papaya: 1
  • Sugar: 1/2 cup
  • Lemon: 1
  • Pineapple essence: 1tspn

Procedure:

  • Peel the papaya. Slice them in halves and remove all the seeds from the inside, along with any skin attached inside the papayas.
                                                             

                                                 
  • Grate all the flesh.
  • Squeeze all the excess water from grated papaya, make sure they are really dry.
                                        
  • Cook grated papaya on low-medium flame.
                                         

  • Papaya oozes excess water while cooking.
  • Add half cup sugar. Allow the sugar to melt completely. If papaya is bitter you can add more sugar.
                                         

  • Add lemon zest.
  • Add lemon juice( from 1 lime).
  • At this stage add 1tspn of pineapple essence.
                                         



  • Never make papaya smushy.
  • After about 4-5mins papaya becomes dry. Now remove from heat.
  • Now leave for 30mins.
                                         

  • Now it's completely cooled and papaya is perfectly cooked but not mushy.
                                         

  • Now again cook in low-medium flame until sugar crystallizes
  • After about 8-10mins color completely changes. Papaya seems to be caramelized and solid.
                                         

  • Divide into 4 halves
  • Add food colors as you like.
                                         

  • Make small balls.
                                         

  • Again coat with sugar.
                                         

  • Yummy yummy sugar candies are ready!!!
