Kerala Beef Fry Recipe | നാടൻ ബീഫ് ഫ്രൈ

 This delicious dish is one of the favorites of the South-Indian state of Kerala. This can be served as a snack as well as a side dish along with parotta, appam, dosa, chapati. Its spicy flavor can be as mild or as fiery as you'd like it to be. Beef is cooked with spices and then stir-fried with coconut slices, curry leaves, onion slices, and garlic pods. Beef fry is one of the favorite dishes of Malayalees. Malayalees love to take beef fry along with parotta. The ground pepper is added more in this recipe for spiciness, which you can add accordingly. While pressure cooking makes sure not to cook for a long time since it make the beef break while frying. And while frying do not fry for a long time since the beef pieces can get harder. Frying should be done using coconut oil since coconut oil can only give the authentic flavors of Kerala.

Ingredients:
 

  • Beef - 1kg

 For pressure cooking:
  • ginger - garlic crushed - 1tsp
  • turmeric powder - 1/2tsp
  • chili powder - 1/2tsp
  • coriander powder - 1/2tsp
  • pepper powder - 3/4tsp
  • garam masala - 1/2tsp
  • salt - 1/2tsp

 For Marinating:
  • ginger - garlic crushed - 2tsp
  • turmeric powder - 1/2tsp
  • chili powder - 1tsp
  • coriander powder - 1tsp
  • pepper powder - 2tsp
  • garam masala - 1.5 tsp
  • salt - as required
  • coconut oil - 1tsp
  • fennel seeds - 1/2tsp
  • beef stock -2tsp

 For Frying:
  • Oil - 7tsp
  • Coconut slices - 1/2cup
  • Curry Leaves - a handful
  • Onion - 1 
  • garlic pods sliced - 10-12pods






Procedure:


  • Marinate beef along with all the ingredients listed under pressure cooking
  • Rest beef for 1hr
  • Pressure cook beef 
  • Pressure cook for 4 whistles do not overcook since it can break the beef pieces
  • Marinate cooked beef with all ingredients listed under marination
  • Rest beef for 1hr
  • Fry marinated beef in coconut oil
  • When beef is 80% done add sliced garlic, sliced coconut flakes, sliced onion
  • Again fry and beef is done
  • Enjoy beef with rice, appam, chapati, or parotta
